For-Credit Internship Opportunities

For-credit internships are designed to provide students hands-on experience in their field while earning SMCC credits. Students in specific academic programs at the 天美传媒 may be required, or have the option, to enroll in an internship. Whether an internship is paid or unpaid depends on the specific program and opportunity.
For-Credit Internships
The following Departments offer for-credit internship courses in their majors. To inquire whether or not the particular position you have available could be suitable for a credit-bearing internship, visit our Degree Programs webpage and select the program you are interested in. You will see the Department Chair contact information listed on this page, who can put you in touch with the faculty internship coordinator for further information about credit-bearing internship opportunities. Employers wishing to post internship positions for paid or summer internship opportunities on the SMCC job and internship board or contact the SMCC Career Director at dgasparjarvis@mainecc.edu.
- Automotive Technology 鈥� Co-op, Externship or Advanced Lab, (3 credits), require
- Biotechnology 鈥� Internship (2 credits), required
- Business Administration 鈥� Internship (3 credits)
- Business Administration/Sports Management 鈥� Internship (3 credits), required
- Cardiology 鈥� 4 Clinical Practicums, variable credits (23 credits total), required
- Communications and New Media 鈥� Possible as part of Capstone Project (3 credits)
- Construction Technology 鈥� Externship (4 credits), optional
- Criminal Justice 鈥� Optional Internship (3 credits) must hold minimum 3.2 G.P.A. to be eligible
- Culinary Arts 鈥� Externship 听(3 credits), requiredExperience (3 credit) or Lifetime Physical Fitness and Wellness 听
- Early Childhood Education 鈥� Practicums I & II (10 credits total), required
- Emergency Medical Services/Paramedicine 鈥� Clinical Practicums I and II (7 credits total), required; and Paramedic Field Internship (6 credits)
- Fire Science 鈥� Live-in Program (1-4 credits possible), optional
- Horticulture 鈥� Placement Training (3 credits), required
- Human Services 鈥� Practicum I and II (6 credits total), required
- Hospitality Management 鈥� Hospitality Internship (3 credits), required
- Liberal Studies/Political Science Concentration 鈥� Political Science Internship (3 credits), optional
- Medical Assisting 鈥� Medical Assisting Practicum (4 credits), required
- Nursing 鈥� Clinical Practicums I, II, II, IV (36 credits total), required
- Radiography 鈥� Practicum I, II, III, IV, and V (24 credits total), required
